Calendars

I realized the other that calendars run my life. In my office I have two calendars on the wall right in front of my desk--one for 2009 and one for 2010. On the wall behind me, I still have the 2008 calendar. Just outside my door are two more calendars used by the office staff. I carry a pocket calendar and there is a calendar in our kitchen at home. For those of you who use Microsoft Outlook, you know I have a built in calendar on my computer.

This is sounds crazy but it works. It is so much easier to simply look up on the calendars when I am on the phone and a customer has a question about a shipment. Or when my college kids call and tell me they will be home on the weekend after next. What date is that?

All of us have so much going on in our lives these days and everything is ruled by the calendar: football games, dental appointments, work days and days off, birthdays and anniversaries and we need to keep it straight in our minds. For those of us who like to dig in the dirt, we have the all important: Planting Day! So, we need calendars.

But don’t get too caught up. Some of the best things in life aren’t on the calendar. I would hate to miss them while I was staring at the calendar on my wall!
