Hi Mary Lou, my point is we should push the limits that tradition imposes on our concept of garden/landscape both in terms of season and variety to max out our enjoyment of the land. I want to anticipate the unique beauty each season offers by…

Get out there and plant something !

Martin Luther gave an interesting response when asked what he would do if he knew the end of the world would come the next day: "I would plant a tree". There may or may not be that much time left but in a world where MacMansions leave only a sorry apron of lawn between neighbors, I think I'll go plant a tree.

Hi Mary Lou, sounds like you have much more variety than I do. I am into perennial grasses as well, we have several tall ones that are a hearty sub for pampas grass, but others on down to liriopes. I love the subtle movements they make in the wind…

This time of year is very beautiful. We usually do a fall vacation and I don't add anything to my garden because of it. A few of our trees are just starting to give off a little color and even though I'm not planting I am very much enjoying everything. We both definitely slow down the plantings and enjoy other things. Happy gardening!!!

Mac, Very interesting and things I have never heard of. I have a young start of some sort of wild grass that I bought and I don't know the name of. Also that purple grass that have the nice plums, the smaller variety. That was really small when I brought it home but spray n grow has really caused him to grow. Have them in a small gardens one in the front of the house and one near the garage so you see it first. Husband made a homemade bench out of logs and I planted a bunch of different things in this little garden. Have to try and get some pictures of this space. Nothing close to your glad pictures!! The granddaughters are coming this weekend so busy getting ready for this big event.

Hi Mac,

We live in rural Nebr. We have a horses next door so Wayne my husband gets old rotted horse manure and tills it into the soil in the fail. I haven't done much with bone meal and so maybe around the asiastic lillies would really help them increase in size and flowers. We have a lot of trouble with voiles eating the tulip bulbs but they don't touch the daffodils? Mac I'm eating my heart out at the pictures of the beautiful glads!! Grandma always had a lot of them. Love them just hate having to dig them up! Dalias the same way and cannas. Right now I think I have favorites like lillies, iris, roses, phlox, and those types of flowers.

Hi Mac,

When all fails read the directions!! I'm kind ashamed to admit I wasn't using the products correctly. It's amazing how well they work when used correctly!!! I've loved the outcome. Bumper crop of tomatoes, flowers are thriving and it's a lot more fun with your products. I am telling other about you and sending for catalogues for them to get them started and catch the "bug" of gardening.'
Have a great day!
