Did you know that they have people that actually track Moths?
To bad they have to be a problem as Horn worms because they do make
a really cool Moth.

He came back a few nights ago, or maybe it was his brother :)
There was a thunder storm and he was flying around my patio door, think he was after my
giant lilly flowers.
Theres 3 plants in 2 pots and as soon as you open the door you can smell them. ( 5 flowers)

You know, you're right. It has been so long since I've seen one of those I thought they were extinct! Tomato growers use a Bacillus species of bacteria now for control of the catapillers and that has vitually eliminated the hornworm problem. I've used it in the past and it works very well to control them.

Actually not so harmless, I mean as a Moth yes harmless and helpful.
But as a Caterpillar not so harmless because as a baby hes a Tomato Horn worm.
and can strap a tomato plant of all its leaves over night,
So dont know how many actually make it to the moth stage.

Yeah those things are amazing aren't they. Very interesting to watch to say the least. Looks like you had what he wanted! Plenty of food to be had. At least they are as benign as a honeybee!

Sounds like a good site to go too.
Did you see my picture of what I found in my garden a few nights ago?

Yeah, that sounds like a nice site. :) I've already been signed into "Dave's Garden.com" where they have both threads for Plant and Bug ID... I've found that this isn't a fly at all but a true bug. I just don't know yet what kind so I took a better picture of this bug. Hopefully DG.com with give me an ID. DG.com has been around since the year 2000 and has thousands of people signed up who are very experienced with plants and bugs.

I found this site yesterday, its called Whats this bug?
Its a really good site.
People take pictures and say where the bug was and they tell them
what it is. ( hence the name) whats this bug ? : )
Some really cool insects, but some I swear if I saw I wouldnt go get the camera
I would just run as far away as possible.
Or use a really good telescopic lens.

Did you know that you can click on the pictures you downloaded here then enlarge them?
So you can see that insect really good that way.
