What to grow indoors?

I'm looking for a plant to grow indoors, but could use some help in picking something out.

I'd like to for it to grow no more than 4 feet tall and hopefully live a long time.
I would prefer something that isn't super high maintenance (as I may forget to water at times).
And would need something that if my cat ate a leaf they would be ok.

Any ideas?

Permalink Reply by Lynne Forlenza on March 10, 2010 at 3:40pm: You didn't mention your light situation, but I have a Mother-in-Law's Tongue (Or Snake plant) in my basement room where it gets very little light, & it's doing really well. Otherwise, one of the easiest (IMO) plants to grow in low or medium light is the Golden Pathos. I'm not sure about the kitty situation though. I used to have a plant eater, & he didn't seem bothered by it, though it is a member of the Philodendron family I think. The cat grass is a good idea. Good luck!

but neighbors cat discovered it.
I would find the poor plant flat where the cat laid in it.
My cat loves to eat the plant then its funny to watch her.
